Hi VNSA!
I’m absolutely estatic to be the new BTN director this year! I have so many new ideas and things I want to implement so keep your eyes and ears open. Next year I am graduating with an associates degree from the Paul D Camp Community College School of Nursing in Franklin, Virginia. I am currently serving as my classes Vice President. I’m also the founder of a reading program at a local nursing home and the head of my churche’s homeless ministry. I have a passion for helping those in need which is why I hope to be a nurse in the Christian mission field living out of a hut in some obscure third world country giving medical aid and spreading the love of Christ. A personal motto of mine is to “Go big or go home,” so brace yourself for the awesome year ahead of you with the VNSA. Questions, comments and concerns are always welcomed at vnsabtnursing@gmail.com

Arwen Quinn, Policy and Initiatives Director
vnsapidir@gmail.com
Hello, my name is Arwen Quinn, I am a senior Radford University nursing student (Roanoke Campus). I served as VNSA Policy Initiatives Director 2010-2011 and am honored to be serving a second year, 2011-2012. Last year we saw President Obama pass the Healthcare Bill, beginning a historical process which promises health care to tens of millions of Americans. The process is far from over however, and it remains critical to the future “health” of healthcare to stay informed. It is our responsibility as soon-to-be healthcare professionals and as leaders in our field, to be educated on the current events which will affect us, our co-workers, our jobs, & most importantly our patients. My responsibility to the VNSA is to keep the Board informed of current legislation, and educate constituencies within VNSA on how to become politically active. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions, ideas, suggestions, or comments about current policy at vnsapidir@gmail.com . Here’s looking forward to a new and exciting year in nursing!!

Hello everyone!
My name is Lilay Gebreselassie and I am a second year student at the University of Virginia, School of Nursing. It is my pleasure to serve the VNSA as Nominations and Election Chair Person. I come from an international background and aspire to pursue Global Public health in graduate school. In the future I plan to work in a developing country. This year as Nominations and Election Chair Person, I plan on getting the nomination and election process started early on, in order to give potential candidates the opportunity to campaign locally before the convention. I believe an organization needs leaders with both strong and good characteristics. The success of an organization is determined by the engagement and dedication of its leaders. I am excited to get started and get going! I look forward to working with you.
